Questions and Answers
What is early intervention and why is it important?
Early intervention includes services and supports for children from birth to 3 with developmental delays and disabilities and their families. Early intervention is important because it has the ability to empower you with knowledge and give you strategies to help your child develop the skills they need.
When and where will visits be?
Visits will be provided based on the recommendations made at the assessment. Visits are typically 1 time per week for 60 minutes, but they can be more or less frequent depending on your needs. Towards the end of the visit, we will wrap-up by discussing any questions you may have and identifying what was most helpful to you during the session. Visits will take place in your home in your child’s natural environment.
What do I need to prepare before visits?
NOTHING! I practice a “bagless” approach, which means we will only use what you have in your home during therapy sessions. This ensures that you will be able to incorporate the activities we practice together into your daily routines throughout the week. I also use a play-based, child-led approach, which means we will join in on whatever activity your child is interested in when I arrive, so you do not need to set up any activities (unless there is a specific routine or activity you would like to work on).
Participation Policy
I use a combination of modeling and coaching. Each visit may look different depending on the skills we are working on and your level of comfort:
you may be watching me play with your child while I explain and model strategies,
you may be playing with your child while I provide real-time feedback on how to alter the activity,
you may be playing with your child while I watch and afterwards we can reflect together on how the activity went.
While I understand there may be times when you need a break or have to take a phone call, it is important for you to be involved in our visits.

Attendance Policy
Regular, consistent attendance and participation is beneficial in order for the therapeutic process to work. Once a therapy session is scheduled, that time slot is reserved specifically for your family. In the event of sickness or an emergency, please contact PLT Therapy Services at least 24 hours in advance (or as soon as possible) to change the visit to telehealth or reschedule your appointment. Three no-contact absences or late cancellations during a two-month (60 day) period or two consecutive no-contact absences or late cancellations may result in discharge from our practice.
